MSA 161 T Battery Top Handle Chainsaw

The MSA 161 T is the next generation of cordless top-handle chainsaws. This lightweight chainsaw features a 40% higher chain speed and a 15% increase in motor performance over its predecessor, the MSA 160 T. The low profile, ¼ P chain reduces chain chatter for a smooth and precise finish. A battery and charger are not supplied with this machine.
The battery-powered chainsaw features a trigger side-lock button for added safety, a large throttle interlock lever and a carrying ring for attaching the saw for aerial use. The cordless nature of the new saw means that the MSA 161 T is so quiet in operation that ear defenders are not required while working. With a run time of up to 42 minutes with the AP 200 battery (2018 version), this cordless chainsaw is a perfect addition to the fleet.
Side chain tensioner
The tensioning screw can be found on the side of the chain saw through the sprocket cover. This removes the need for contact with the sharp saw chain.
QuickStop Super Chain Brake (Q)
The additional braking system for extra safety. Users can trigger the chain brake directly at the rear handle. The chain stops in seconds whenever the user lets go of the rear handle and whenever there is a sufficiently strong kickback or when the front hand guard is activated. This unique safety feature ensures even more user protection in all working positions.
New operating system
Side-lock button for increased safety remains locked until this button is pushed in.
Toolless filler cap
The tank can be filled quickly and easily using the toolless filler cap.
STIHL Electric Motor (EC)
The STIHL electric motor (EC) is extremely energy efficient, lightweight and compact. It runs quietly, generates very low vibrations and does not require servicing.
Hand guard
Ensures clear feedback when engaging or disengaging the chain brake.

Top handle chainsaws are specified for professional arborists or operators who can prove competence by way of certification from an approved educational body.
Occasions arise whereby warranty periods may be extended / shortened, due to promotional campaigns. Correspondence detailing these changes will be released before the promotion’s active date.
STIHL connected professional warranty extension
Extension of professional warranty by 1 year when purchased with selected professional petrol tools and AP System battery tools with a STIHL Smart Connector or Smart Connector 2 A. MotoMix® fuel domestic warranty extension
Extension of Domestic warranty from 2 to 3 years when purchased with 5 litres of MotoMix®. Domestic customers can now extend warranty cover of selected machines, when purchased along with 5 litres of MotoMix®. The extension must be registered at point of sale by the STIHL Approved Dealer. Spare Parts
Spare parts are covered by a 1 year warranty.
VIKING to STIHL transition
From 1 January 2019 all VIKING grounds care products were re-branded to become STIHL. Therefore for any warranty enquiries relating to the VIKING product range, please refer to the section labelled STIHL grounds care products.
Security updates
The iMOW® will receive security updates for at least 24 months after purchase.
ADVANCE ProCOM will receive security updates for at least 36 months after purchase.
