Tree Girthing Tape

Please note there are three different types. The above picture is the 3m metric imperial tape.

Hard-wearing yellow fibreglass girth tapes with a D-loop. The 2m tape is a rounded-down tape.

The girthing measuring tape enables the easy and quick calculation of tree diameters. The tape is printed with special graduations that convert a measure of circumference into its associated width. Graduations are available in metric imperial or metric and usually are rounded down to the nearest whole unit.

To use, wrap around the stem of the tree at the height you require and conventionally read off the value. The indicated amount is treated as the stem diameter.
